About Hasse

I am a 44 years old television producer/director taking some time off from my regular job to fulfill a lifelong dream; getting into animation! I am so excited about it - and I have sooo much to learn!

This is my demoreel as it stands right now:

But as I said I have had a long carrier in television before I decided to take a break and study animation. My special knowhow is in the field of creating and making magazine programmes, and more specifically perhaps; directing children is a speciality that I have developed over the years.

My work has become my lifestyle, and working for kids has given my life a very special meaning, I think. I don't raise just two or three kids of my own, like most people do. I help out and raise tens of thousands of them, through the programs I'm involved in. We (me and my colleagues at work) try to give our young viewers good stories and good values to help them build their lives. It means a lot to me, I know it's GOOD thing and it is something I will proud of even until the day I die.

What else?

- I love music! I love to perform at music occasions! I sing in choirs, I play in a not very good cover band, if there is a singalong at a party I'm sure to have my accordeon with me.... always on the lookout for new fun music projects...

- I love bicyling! In summertime I often go on long bike trips (I have the time to do that since I have no family!)

- And of course I love animation! I am recently a student at Animation Mentor trying to develop into the best animator I can be.

I have always felt a special fascination for this wonderful art, ever since I was a kid. (Donald Duck and his friends came on the telly ONCE a year when I was a boy, at christmas eve. Every year exactly the same episodes; mowgli and baloo singing "bear necessities", mickey and donald and goofy going on housewagon camping, ferdinand smelling flowers under the oak tree... And that, to me, was the absolute highlight of the whole year! )

My experience with animation before Animation Mentor is rather modest. I had been doodling a little on my own time, mostly as a hobby, for a couple of years. But I have always loved the sensation of watching a character come to life on the screen in front of me! It's magic! It's the joy of seeing a result of a craft and a technical ability you worked so hard to learn - but even more than that I love the acting and storytelling part of the whole thing, I think.

Here are a couple of small samples done in anime studio pro, which is the software I used before AM, when I was been playing around with 2D a little...
(Now, during the course of the last year, I have been completely Maya-ficated, since Maya is the tool we use at school. But lately I have started to look at anime studio again, with growing appreciation....)

Looky looky, Hasse had to buy his first webcam ever when he started out at animation mentor!
